Training

Our one day training course is held at your site and provides you with the knowledge you need to conduct your own in-house inspections as well as advice and insights into how to manage your racking systems.

We offer a comprehensive training course, which includes the following:

  • The law/requirements for racking inspections
  • Identification of racking components and how they work together
  • How to assess damage to racking components
  • An introduction to managing your storage equipment
  • A practical session held in within your installation
  • Exercises, discussion, and feedback

The course is suitable for anyone involved in the following activities

  • Any worker who uses the storage equipment such as MHE operatives, pickers, supervisors, and warehouse/team managers
  • A person who has been nominated as the Person Responsible for Rack Safety
  • Health and Safety officers and managers

Everyone involved in the day-to-day operation of work equipment should be trained in its’ correct use.

Both HSE and SEMA also recommend the appointment of a PRRS (Person Responsible for Rack Safety) – this role is also often referred to as the Racking Safety Office or Person Responsible for Storage Equipment Safety.

There is a further recommendation that this person has experience or undertakes some form of training to allow them to correctly manage/inspect the equipment.

The PRRS is responsible for undertaking in-house inspections or for delegating this task to other (preferably trained) personnel.

The training course comprises a classroom session which includes plenty of discussion and typically, the discussion is tailored to the individual challenges that your own workers face as racking installations and warehouses are all unique.

In particular, if Rack Experts have carried out an inspection at your site, we are usually in a position to highlight these challenges and if available, we are also able to use your own report as part of the classroom discussion, giving you a full overview of how to understand a Rack Safety Inspection Report.

The course is best suited for groups of between 1 and 6 participants but can easily be adapted for different numbers of delegates which can be discussed at your initial enquiry stage.

As well as our first class inspection service, we offer full UK coverage (and beyond!) for delivery of our rack inspection and management training courses. All delegates are issued with a good quality course booklet and are encouraged to take notes as we progress through each section.
